Privacy Statement

Effective Date:  March 28, 2013

Ghostery® is a free downloadable browser extension that helps you to see what companies are tracking you (“Trackers”) on any given website for interest based advertising purposes. With this information you can learn more about these Trackers and therefore exercise personal control over this activity. Ghostery does not collect any information about you like your name, address, email address or the like. We don’t want that information. We will tell you more about what we DO collect later in this Privacy Statement. But know this: We don’t track you, that isn’t what we do. We don’t collect information about you and we don’t know who you are when you download Ghostery. And now for lawyer stuff.

Evidon, Inc. (“Evidon”) owns Ghostery as well as the website, www.ghostery.com (the “Website”). Ghostery is found on the Website, where it can be downloaded onto your computer, subject, of course, to the Ghostery Terms of Use Agreement (the “Agreement”).

This Privacy Statement, which is incorporated into this Agreement, describes our information practices, including what data we collect, how we may use it, and other things such as how to contact us.

Data Collected and Data Usage
When you download Ghostery onto your computer, we collect basic data in server logs, like your web request, the data sent in response to that request, the Internet Protocol (IP) address, the browser type, the browser language, and a timestamp for the request. This information is used to maintain the functionality of the Website and to count the number of Ghostery downloads. We like to count. We do not take any action toward you directly, such as contacting you when there is a Ghostery update. That is done through our general blog, newsletter, or through the respective browsers, which will speak directly to the Ghostery application.

Cookies
Ghostery does not drop cookies on you and the Website does not use cookies in any form whatsoever. If and when you sign up to participate in the Ghostery user forum, that forum is hosted by a third party, Get Satisfaction (http://www.getsatisfaction.com/ghostery), and they may use cookies. The user forum is not hosted or located on our Website. We don’t have control over their information practices or their use of cookies. Visit http://www.getsatisfaction.com to find out more about their information practices. If you do not agree to their information practices, do not sign up for the user forum – contact us at support@ghostery.com instead.

Security
No data transmissions over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Consequently, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us. You do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make commercially reasonable efforts to ensure that physical, administrative and technical safeguards are in place to protect the security of our systems and information. However, please note that this is not a guarantee that such systems or information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of such measures.

Information Sharing Policy
We don’t share information with third parties. However, for whatever limited information we DO collect, our lawyers have said that we have to reserve the right to disclose any information as required by law, or when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on us.

Merger, Sale, or Reorganization of Evidon
If Evidon should ever file for bankruptcy, or have its assets sold to or merged with another entity, information Evidon receives from you, from the Website, is an Evidon asset and may be transferred.

Changes and Updates
We may occasionally update this Privacy Statement. When we do, we will also revise the "Effective Date" at the top of the Privacy Statement. For changes to this Privacy Statement that may be materially less restrictive on our use or disclosure of any information you have provided to us, we will notify you by the posting of the revised Privacy Statement. We’ll make reasonable efforts to notify our users on our blog and through social media, but we won’t have any other way of notifying you. That means it is your responsibility to periodically review this Privacy Statement to stay informed about our information practices. Your continued use of the Website and Ghostery constitute your agreement to this Privacy Statement and any revisions or updates.
