Search Engine Redirect Protection

Search results that link straight to the page

What it does

When you click a search result, Google and Bing can send you through their own servers on the way to the page. Search Engine Redirect Protection makes those results link directly to the page instead.

You click a result google.com/url?q=… detour bbc.com/article
You click a result bbc.com/article
Same page, without the detour through the search engine's servers.
Search Engine Redirect Protection has its own switch on the same settings page.

How it works

On Google and Bing search results, Ghostery prevents the redirect through the search engine's servers, so your click goes straight to the page you selected.

What you get

  • Search results link straight to the page
  • Works on Google and Bing
  • Has its own switch, separate from Browser Redirect Protection

Turn it on

Find it under: Privacy protection → Redirect Protection → Search Engine Redirect Protection.
